reTIP approved: rethinking intergenerational participation in associations

reTIP, a two-year Erasmus+ cooperation partnership led by Engagé·e·s et Déterminé·e·s, has been approved. INDEED Projects joins partners from France and Belgium, leads the partners-level work package and will host the first transnational meeting in Valencia.

reTIP approved: rethinking intergenerational participation in associations

A new European cooperation project is moving from proposal to implementation. reTIP – (re)Think the Intergenerational Participation: for a better equipped associative sector has been approved for Erasmus+ funding (KA220-ADU, cooperation partnerships in adult education, 2026 Round 1) and will run from 2 November 2026 to 1 November 2028.

The partnership brings together Engagé·e·s et Déterminé·e·s (France, coordinator), CartONG (France), Volonteurope (Belgium) and INDEED Projects (Spain).

The challenge

Many associations want to involve younger and older members in real decisions, but lack the frameworks, tools and shared references to do it well. Intergenerational participation is often discussed as a principle. Making it real means building spaces where people of different ages can influence decisions, learn from one another and work together on equal terms, and that takes deliberate methods and structures.

What reTIP will do

Over two years, the partners will:

  • define a common conceptual framework on intergenerational participation;
  • run a European survey on how it works in associations today;
  • identify and formalise good practices;
  • hold local and transnational practice-exchange workshops, and a European bootcamp;
  • create and test a collaborative mapping tool;
  • build a community of practice based on peer learning between organisations in Europe.

INDEED's role

INDEED Projects leads the partners-level work package and will host the project's first Transnational Project Meeting in Valencia, from 23 to 25 November 2026. The meeting is where partners move from planning to implementation: aligning approaches, agreeing the first phase of activities and starting the work together in person.

For INDEED, a women-led organisation rooted in the leadership of young people, the project speaks to a simple idea: participation should not only mean being invited into a process. It should mean having the conditions, information, methods and influence to shape it.
