Youth Workers Mobility for SustainAbility

Youth Workers Mobility for SustainAbility equips youth workers from eight countries with practical tools for greener, more inclusive and more responsible youth work. Through a seven-day training course in Alicante, participants will test sustainable methods, strengthen their facilitation and leadership skills and co-create a SustainAbility Toolkit for youth organisations.

Context and objectives

Youth Workers Mobility for SustainAbility strengthens the ability of youth workers and youth organisations to integrate sustainability into their educational activities, organisational practices and European cooperation. The project combines green skills, non-formal education, leadership, digital communication, experiential learning and environmentally responsible project management.

Main objectives

  • Increase youth workers' knowledge of sustainability.
  • Connect environmental issues with youth-work practice.
  • Test eco-friendly methods and tools.
  • Strengthen leadership, facilitation and project-design competences.
  • Strengthen digital communication.
  • Encourage long-term behavioural and organisational change.
  • Reinforce solidarity, responsibility and active citizenship.
  • Support cooperation among youth organisations in eight countries.
  • Develop a practical SustainAbility Toolkit.

  • Staff, volunteers and active members of youth organisations.
  • Young people with fewer opportunities beginning a youth-work trajectory.

  • Simulations and debates on sustainability themes.
  • Outdoor activities and small-group work.
  • Role plays and problem-solving challenges.
  • Peer learning and intercultural exchange.
  • Reflective exercises and Youthpass recognition.
  • Digital storytelling and collaborative creation.
  • Sessions on European and local environmental challenges.
  • Sessions on sustainability in youth work.
  • Practice in eco-friendly event management.
  • Use of green transport, vegetarian catering, waste separation and reduced printed materials.
  • Training in digital communication, facilitation and leadership.
  • Project-design work and organisational-change work.

Planned or documented results

The project is ongoing. The following distinguishes confirmed activities from expected outputs, which are labelled as targets.

  • SustainAbility Toolkit of approximately 15–20 pages (planned).
  • Practical eco-tips adapted to youth organisations.
  • 26 Youthpass certificates (planned, based on 24 participants and 2 trainers).
  • At least one new eco-friendly practice adopted by each of the eight participating organisations (target).
  • At least 16 follow-up workshops, two per organisation (target).
  • Social-media campaign.
  • Approximately 50 planned social-media posts (target).
  • Video and photo testimonials (planned).
  • Continued peer support and international cooperation.
  • Greater integration of sustainable practices into youth work.
  • Approximately 50,000 social-media impressions (planned outreach target, not yet achieved).
